It was VERY impressive... Well, the storm was, and the pictures. It struck about 6 miles away from my college, my college is at the top of the hill on the edge of a wide valley which is north-west London. We were in a meeting all morning, in a studio with the most lovely view out across this valley from the MASSIVE window, floor-ceiling, 15' high and 20'across? Not a single sheet of glass of course, but it's a massive window. And when the storm hit it was being wobbling by 8" in the centre when the wind hit it. And the hail was blattering down... and then in a minute it was all over and bright sunshine! I didn't find out bout the tornado until I was on my way home.
It's amazing how non-destructive the tornado was, in terms of human life. One person has had to be hospitalised from being hit by something in the wind, and five others were in need of medical attention.... that's all. With over a hundred homes damaged, cars destroyed, trees and bricks whirling through the air... one serious injury.
Incidentally, there's 7.3million people in london, so about a one in a million chance of anyone here being involved!
