Everyone now has a Karma count, and an "Exalt" (positive) and "Smite" (negative) choice. If someone's posted something really interesting, useful, or enjoyable, then boost their Karma. On the other hand, if someone's posted something incredibly irritating, stupid, or ill-thought out, then you're free to smite.

Memphis, thank you for the answer. Why don't I have a smite/exalt below my Karma rating? Perhaps I need to tweak something in my profile?

You do have one but you can't see it as you cannot exalt/smite yourself. I cannot see mine but I bet you can see it! ;D
