so much for a footie free forum... sorry 15 minutes to go and the opening game will begin. Do you guys care about football and support your country's team etc? Or are you trying to escape the whole thing (impossible to do in Germany at the moment)? I'm not a footie expert, but I'll try and watch as many games as possible. Supporting Germany, England and Australia for now, see how long that's gonna last. Things are really crazy here at the moment. The French team is in a place not far from here and thousands of fans were waiting for them in the streets when they got here, and they tried to stop their bus to welcome them etc. Oh and then the whole markerting thing, 'Heimspiel' ice cream in the colours of the German flag, footie meat balls, footie chocolate balls, German flags everywhere ahhhhhhh! Anyway, going to watch the first game now. Do tell me who you support (if you do).

I hate football! I always have- there is a fairly small football ground behind my house, and we have always had hooligans and drunks coming along damaging our houses and gardens when their team has lost the game. I hate the violence and anger that football inspires in people, and the game itself is so boring! I much prefer to watch Rugby.

Not so much the football but the merchandising that goes with it, practically every TV advert over here has some celebrity football type endorsement, and the cars and lorries and houses here are overspilling with england flags. But whilst its on, I may as well watch it, if not just so that I can understand and join in with conversations next week! Congrats Germany for the game tonight, well played!

It should be religated to the wee small hours of the night if it must be shown on TV and there should have a ban on mentioning it between the hours of 6am and 5am monday to sunday.

AS "we" didn`t qualify, again, Scotland that is, I won`t have a passionate reason to watch.....but I will watch every second I can. I love footie,me. I`ll give a wee shout to the US as I live here and the missus and kids are native. Australia too, as well as Trinidad and Tobago, in fact any of our Colonies ;D Not too sure I want England to do well though. Nothing personal, I just couldn`t stomach "the boys of `06" being added to "the boys of `66". The supreme irony being a lot of Scots go on about the English commentators harping back to `66, yet fail to notice the Sellick fans harping on about Sellick in `67 Memphs, you might find yourself banished from AIM during this period!!!!

I`m not so sure FS...Walter`s bringing a bit of passion and flair back. I`m old enough to remember when we qualified everytime from `74 on........and the tears THOSE campaigns brought

Memphs, you might find yourself banished from AIM during this period!!!! Not that I'll notice the difference, but why?? There are other things to talk about apart from football you know! Like just how long there is until I'm over there with you, and just how much I have to do before then, the weather and how I can finally practice sun. See? Loads! You will be permitted to mention footie when England go out as I will be happy that I no longer have to listen to the god awful "Come On England" on the radio all day at work.
