Do you know him personally??? Or do you disagree his policies?
I'm glad he's got in, an intelligent, reasonable man in charge of the world's biggest power is exactly what we all need. I doubt very much he's perfect, he'll do things I won't agree with- but there's no perfection in politics, just an either/or situation and I think the better candidate won.
I do love what he stands for in being the first black president - though some talking head on the news made a good point about him being post-racial divides, in having a mixed heritage. America sees him as black, yes, but the rest of the world sees him as mixed race - a combination of both white and black, therefore having twice the heritage, twice the range of experience to inform him. Can only be a good thing.

Granted, I only know the candidates' stance on a couple of issues, but from those - Iraq war and women's rights - I am SO relieved Obama won.

It's his policies. For abortion, for infanticide, for suddenly pulling out our troops, for displaying blatantly racist tendancies, for being a socialist... I could absolutely go on.
In all honesty, I'm just waiting for another terrorist attack to happen. They'll see him as a weak President, which is exactly how I see him based on his known policies. No matter how people thought of Bush, after 9/11 he kept the US safe. No matter how many people have whined, bitched, moaned and hated him, he kept our sorry butts safe. I just can't trust Obama to do that.
It's not that I'm at all against a black President, and I wish some of the people who do whine about that (not anyone here; just many in general) would get off my back about it. I'd vote for Condoleezza Rice in a heartbeat, and she's black AND a woman.

I didn't personally care for either candidate... (DAMN YOU, TWO PARTY SYSTEM!) But out of the two, I prefered Obama.

There are also Independent, Green Party candidates and a few others... not that I could see them actually winning anytime soon To each his own.

I'm very glad he won! We talked about the US elections in school when all the campaigning started, and I guess all of us immediately agreed Obama was the better candidate. It's weird, I think the public interest here was bigger now than in our own elections. XD But after all, the USA affect all the world. In my opinion, pulling out the US troops from Iraq is the best thing that could happen... Me, personally, I really started wishing Obama would win when I heard about Sarah Palin's attitudes and planned policies... Apart from that, it's of course a significant step to have a black person as president. My father honestly thought Americans would never be able to vote for him, but, well, I guess it was simply time for change. ;D
