I want to get some costuming tools before the end of the month, but I don't know which area I should get first.
Wig ventilating tools would be handy because that's what I hope to intern in fall 2007. However, this would take me longer to make one thing from and there would be little chance of me being able to make stuff to sell. (Though I am planning on making a full Electra wig/helmet for fun that I would sell)
Leather working tools would be quicker and I could make more things that I could sell. However, this wouldn't help me in my internship and would just be more for fun. The tools for this would be slightly cheaper then the wig making things, but would probably be harder to get a hold of.
So I'm letting you guys decide. I need to somehow get in contact with the Wig Master at the Guthrie or drill one of my friends for wig making suppliers in Minneapolis, so I wouldn't be able to get anything too soon but I would like to get something before August. I will be getting both sooner or later, but I can't decide which one to get first. Please help!

Almost off-topic, but I'm finding the idea of wigmaking attractive - can you recommend any good online supplier of tools etc?

Well, I haven't found too many places online for sellers that I can use. www.atelier-bassi.ch/English/Welcome/Welcome.htmThis one has all the tools needed, but I don't think you can order online. Plus, they're based in Switzerland. www.hisandher.com/This place has lots of hair to use, plus some of the tools and wig caps. alconeco.com/This place has everything you need, but no pictures of anything. Those are all the links I have so far. Once I find the places in Minneapolis if they have sites I'll post those.

Coolness! Thanks. I also have dreams of making an Electra. With fibreoptics! BWAHAHAHA!
EDIT: Ooh.. the lazy part of me is liking the look of the ready-made wig bases.
EDIT the SECOND: I just emailed the Swiss lot about ordering online... I'll post what they say.

Please do post their reply. If I can't get ahold of the places in Minneapolis they look like my best choice.

I got an automated response, saying that they're all off on their summer holidays right now but as soo nas the office re-opens they'll get back to me.
Which is something, I suppose.

Yay! I got an email from the Wigmaster at the Guthrie Theatre today and although she said there's no places in the cities to get the tools, she's willing to teach me the techniques for a week or two so I can practice them on my own before I take the actual internship. *dances* Now if only I didn't have to work for the rest of the summer.
