And to post this today too, when Roller Boy's on the warpath about tracing ANYWAY... perfect timing!
And Jeremy. For once in your life, can you not keep your nose out? no offense, but I was dragged in. when you all mentioned me in the thread. I had no idea it was even being discussed until several people PM'd me that you all mentioned me. not fair to then tell me I butted in. without stopping to think: mebbe this wasn't traced? Maybe it IS pure talent that isn't my own? Hmmm? I always give the benefit of the doubt. I know there is LOADS of talent out there. I emphasis that people should practice and build that talent. I WHOLLY support art. I had NOTHING against this piece as a personal banner. I just had issues with it being used in the Christmas art CONTEST. Especially when there were people who worked really hard on their art to make an original piece, and not just copy and reap benefit. That, dear heart, is cheating. AND, I know the effort she put in while adding all the effects! So screw ya all! It's called Karls' Lens flair. It is a one click 2 second filter that comes standard with P.S. upgrades. It comes via 2 ways, through Filer/lighting effects/lens flair... Or from Filters/brushes/karls' lens flair. lighting effects takes 2 seconds, and brush is effortless. Paint bucket coloring, and distortion of line quality comes from the simple print re-scan method of art. an overlay of art will tell instantly if by proportion and mapping a picture has been traced. In learning art, or for personal use, this is fine. however, entering into a contest and using the piece to cheat is wrong. * on a personal note. I don't like my art. I think I'm a failure as an artist, I hate my self, and I don't think I'm better then anyone here. please let us DROP this. and please don't put words in my mouth. (proverbially speaking of course) _in the end, if she is really talented, and really secure in her own art. It is NO problem for her to just redraw something else, perhaps that will be EVEN better. Practice makes perfect. besides, If she really does draw something on her own, and it looks fantastic because she put real effort into it, then this whole thread will have to eat crow. Show us up girl, rise to the challenge, and NEVER let anyone tell you you suck. because frankly determination is the first step to real talent.

hey, all i was going on was what i was told by both my friends! why throw me out over this? so the images look similar, so what? i hate to be the one to point it out to everyone, but that pose has been used everywhere! anyone else besides me note that many statues, pictures, etc. have used that pose for ages for angles and certain people in certain religions? (not bringing religion up beyond just saying that the pose has been used everywhere.) hellfire, I've seen that pose used in the Digimon TV show for one of the main kids' digimon's rank! so why yell at Tumblepatch and her friend for using a pose that has been used practically by everyone else through the centuries? and why have you lost respect for me, Dinah?

I wasn't planning to get into this, but I'm bored and have nothing better to do...
really, how many different poses of the body are there? And how many drawings of the body are there? I see anime shows on tv where the same pose is constantly being used. You can't blow up at someone every time a pose is similar...
To me, this just isn't worth getting so angry about. Is art thievery a big issue - YES! And it's most certainly wrong. But no one here accept for the artist knows EXACTLY what happend, and so we have no right to bash her about it.

Kitten, I believe the original point trying to be made here is that it's a little tactless to be posting something that contains a piece of art thought to have been traced when a hot topic on the forum is art theft/tracers.
Personally, I don't think it was traced. Sure, the artist may have used the picture as a REFERENCE- in which case, it WILL look similar to the original piece when overlaid- but it doesn't smack of the traditional tracer characteristics. Of course, I could be wrong, but that's just my opinion.
However, a polite explanation on Tumble's part most likely would have sufficed..?
(No offence Katy, but you can't possibly expect to have someone listen to you by acting so childishly.)
edit: ...darn it, Krista. xD Why must you get there before me?

So a person should not post a link because it might contain something? It shouldn't matter that it was posted now if it hasn't been traced.
But none of us knows for sure what exactly happened...
Get me some hard evidence, I say.

So a person should not post a link because it might contain something? Not at all- that's not what I meant. All I'm saying, is that it's rather thoughtless to post a link with a picture that is known to have been ( supposedly) traced when there's been a lot of discussion on the topic of tracers. If you know damn well that it's not been traced and you can calmly and maturely explain that, then there should be no problem- but Tumblepatch just went the complete wrong way about it. Which is why this has been blown so far out of proportion.

I didn't say I agree with the way she handled it. Quite frankly, I wanted to slap all the posters on the first page. But then I wouldn't have been any better myself.

Oh, I wasn't saying that either. However, I'll just end up repeating myself, so I'll shut up. ^^;;;

^^ Sounds like a plan? Looks to me like we're going round in circles with this.
