The Eurovison song contest has yet again come around! How Lordi won last year is beyond me and judging by our entry from 'Scooch' cheesey pop (God! really why did people pick them!) where are heading for another no point , total loser year again! As Usual! Sort of getting used to defeat as a country in everything sport, singing, athletics everything Just my opinon anyone agree or disagree!

I quite like Lordi's music, if it is a bit loud...I don't remember the entries last year so I can't say whether they should have won or not, though...
I heard that countries sometimes submit bad entries on purpose so as to not have to host the contest the following year *giggles* dunno if that's true, but it must cost them a bundle to host, in any case...

Oops, should have known there was a thread!
As mentioned in the other thread, I haven't heard anything good about Scooch yet, but will see for myself tonight. Still don't know who is in it for Germany. Quite liked Texas Lightning last year, shame nobody else did!
I think it's a shame that politics play such a big role in this contest, it should just be about the fun.. or the music!

I think it's a shame that politics play such a big role in this contest, it should just be about the fun.. or the music! I couldn't agree more! I'm so sick and tired of all the fuss over the amount over eastern European entries. They only got that far 'cause people voted for them. How about people stopped whining and started voting for the songs they like instead?

Hey, it´s not only the eastern European countries, it´s also the ex yugoslavic countries who vote for each other. On the other side it´s nearly impossible for Austria to give points to Germany and Ireland and UK don´t like each other much, either, in that case. So in many cases you know before who´ll get the points (not). That´s sad! By the way: How do you find the winnig song? I think it´s not bad but there are better ones. My personal favs were Romania and Hungary.

Don't we all vote for eachother? So there's not really any point in complaining that someone else do the same... Anyway, I dunno. I thought the winners were... ok. There were some I liked better, like the opera-ish songs. Sweden was interesting.

I liked Hungary best as well. Germany had a good singer, but I didn't think the music would appeal to many other countries. Scooch weren't great, but their song was a tiny bit catchy, and they certainly didn't deserve to get so little points!
Sweden was not so bad. Didn't like Serbia to be honest. I did expect Ukraine to win because the song was so silly and robotic, just the kind of song that usually makes you win the song contest.

I liked Germany's entry. But I have no idea what he sang about...

The value of events like this need not be stressed, when East and West can meet as comrades, ease the tension over drinks, through sporting links, as long as their man sinks...
